How do I get started?

Woodland Somatics offers beginner workshops which last 2 hours.  These workshops include an informational session about the theory behind Hanna Somatics and its history.  You will have the chance to connect with other beginner students, get all your questions answered, and learn the basic movements.  Browse our upcoming sessions in the Schedule.

Group Therapy

What Should I Expect?

Somatic Release is a series of very gentle movements which can be performed at any fitness level.  The movements do not require a large amount of strength or exertion, and can be modified as necessary.  It should never cause pain or discomfort.

In our 2-hour beginner workshops, we cover the theory and history of the practice and provide ample time for questions.  Participants will have the chance to learn basic movements and will be provided with written instructions for continued practice at home.

Participants should bring a yoga mat or large towel to lie on, a pillow, and a bottle of water.
